TGIF and a weird occurence

It's Friday! YAH! There are no people anywhere in the world as happy about Fridays as a school teacher. Many of my students aren't here today anyway because they are gone to a baseball tournament.

The strangest thing happened to me night before last. Nathan was at Marcus's so Josey and I were home by ourselves. At about 6, I checked the doors to make sure they were locked and went to the other end of the house to bathe Josey. After her bath, I put a diaper on her, lotion, and a onesie for her to sleep in. I carried her back into the living room only to find that the back door to our house was halfway open. I knew Nathan had not pulled up or I would have heard his truck. I thought someone was in the house with me and Josey. I was afraid to get my truck keys so we could leave in my truck because they were hanging on a hook right by the back door. I knew if someone was in the house they were in our room since I had been in the other end of the house. I just went out the front door carrying Josey out in only a onesie with no blanket. I was only wearing capri pajama pants and a tank top, no shoes or anything. I called Mom because I knew she could arrive before anyone else. I also called Nathan and he headed home with Marcus and several others following in another truck. By the time she pulled up, Josey and I were almost at the road, bare feet and all. We got in with her and drove back up to the house. I decided I was being silly so I handed Josey to Mom and went around the back of the house to get my dog, Moe, to accompany me in the house to check it all out. Then I realized that the back door was shut again. I decided to wait for assistance. Moments later, help arrived and they checked to house. No one was in there. I have no idea what happened with the door. I am still not certain that no one was in there. Mom thinks that the washing machine agitating made the door come open some how. We'll never know. All in all, it made for a freaked out Laney!
Pic is of me, Josey, and the infamous Moe when we were outside feeding the other day. Not a great pic, but Nathan's not much of a photographer and Moe was trying to crawl in my lap.

Anniversary

Today is mine and Nathan's 2 year anniversary. We aren't exchanging gift until tonight, but I got him a new pocketknife. For those of y'all that know my husband, you know he'll love it. We had a good weekend. Josey was up a lot Friday night and I think it was because of her teething. She had a big tooth bump on her bottom gum but now it is gone. She was back to her normal happy self by lunch on Saturday. I guess her tooth was trying to come through but decided to go back down and wait for later. That afternoon Nathan, Josey, and I went and cubed the cows at the Windmill place. That is what the pic is from. That night we went and ate Mexican food with Cody, Jessica, and their baby, Cade. Cade was born 6 weeks before Josey and he is a big boy. He weighs 22 pounds! He makes Josey look like a mini-baby. They kept staring at each other. It was so cute. Sunday we went to cowboy church at the Yellow Rose. The church had a ranch rodeo after that and I had to convince Nathan that getting in it with a broken leg would not be wise. We stayed to watch, though, and fun was had by all. That evening, Nathan had to go haul some cows, so Josey and I went to Mom's. Josey had her sweet potatoes there and it was nice getting to visit with Mom. We are all so busy all the time that we don't get to see each other as much as we would like. TAKS test for my kids is a week from today. Dum-dah-dum-dum-dum-dum. Scary music would be playing at this part. I know they will do well if they TRY. The hard part is getting them to try. Have a good day! :)

so very lucky

I don't think that many of us stop very often to really think about how blessed we are. Lately I have been hearing about numerous parents who have just been told that their child has some life-altering problem. Sometimes I get so caught up with everything else that I never really stop to think about how blessed we are that Josey was born normal and healthy. Or even that we have Josey at all- some people try for years and years to have a child with no results. Everyday I try to stop and thank God that Josey was born completely perfect. I challenge y'all to do the same. Next time you have a bad day, stop and look around at all the little things you have been blessed with that you probably don't normally notice.

Too Many Dogs

Last night we received a phone call from my cousin. He exact words were "Your brindle dog is here and he's bred my gyp and you're getting all the puppies." Not exactly what we were wanting to hear. The problem is that within about 5 miles, there are WAY too many dogs. You see, Clint has 3 or 4, Bill and Sherry each have 2, Carl has 3 or 4, we have 6, my mom has 5, and Lana has 5. That is a very ridiculous amount of dogs. When I say dogs, I don't mean small foo-foo dogs either. I mean cowdogs and some big mutts. We live in the country, so we can't see each other's houses, but our dogs visit each other fairly regularly.

I've been tagged

Erica tagged me on her blog. Here is my picture. It is a pic of Josey's foot. Kinda strange I know, but her feet are so cute! Here are the rules:
1. Go to the fourth picture in your computer
2. Post the fourth picture
3. Explain the picture
4. Tag four more people
I tag- Boatcallie, Mom, Amy, and Sarah B.

Valentines

Here's what Josey looked like when the three of us went out to eat for Valentines. Adorable, huh? We had a good weekend. Yesterday while Nathan was hog hunting, Mom came and helped me clean house. It is so much better! It was driving me crazy. If I could just get caught up on laundry, all would be well. But honestly, if you could play with Josey everyday OR clean house, which would you choose? Friday was crazy at school. High schoolers are insane when it comes to Valentines. They are so sappy. It was pretty hilarious. Two weeks from tomorrow, my students take TAKS. Hopefully it will go well.

horse for Josey

DYING to have this horse for Josey. He belongs to a friend of ours and this is her little girl on him in the pic. He is super broke and I always had told her to tell us if they were going to sell him. Her little girl is 5 or 6 and has moved onto another horse. She has him listed on dreamhorse now and forwarded it to Mom. Can't you just see Josey on him in a couple of years?
On another note, Josey is a little sick. She was running fever last night and very fussy. I think she is not really sick, but that she is just running fever from the shots. Or maybe from teething- not really sure. Mom is keeping her today for me. I really don't feel well either and I'm sure I have caught something from our kids here at work. Lots of them have had a stomach virus. Hope y'all have an excellent day.

4 month checkup

Josey had her 4 month checkup and shots on Monday. They gave her 5 shots! It seemed like a million to me. She cried for a few minutes and then seemed fine from then on. She got pink camo bandaids on them. Later that night, I was holding her in just her diaper and she pulled one of the bandaids off herself! She is in the 95th percentile for height, the 95th percentile for head size (because it takes a big head for such a big brain!) and the 75th percentile for weight. The doctor said that she was not too fat or too skinny. I told Nathan that because he always is thinking that she is fat and he asked if the doctor had looked at her fat little legs. Nathan then compared her legs to drumsticks! Of course, we both think she's perfect in every way. Her hair is getting rubbed out and it makes me sad. Hopefully it won't take long for it to grow back. This week, our babysitter is also keeping 2 other kids with her. One is a girl who is 5 weeks older than Josey and the other is a 3 year old boy. She has definitely got her hands full. Rachael was feeding the other baby some applesauce and she said that Josey was staring at her like "What is up with this? Why aren't you giving me that?" So now she feeds them applesauce both at the same time so neither one will be jealous. Nathan's broken leg doesn't seem to be bothering him at all now. He has done so much that he has cracked the cast, though, and I'm sure the doctor won't approve of that. Hope all of y'all have a great day! The pic is of Josey in Nathan's cap.

this past weekend

We had a pretty uneventful weekend which was wonderful. On Saturday, Nathan hauled some bulls to the vet for some people to get them tested. Josey and I went and ate Chinese food with Mom for lunch. That afternoon, Josey, Mom, and I went and put out cubes at the Windmill place. There is certainly no grass at all. We surely need rain badly. Sunday, Josey and I went to the Methodist church and then to Super Wal-Mart for groceries with Mom. Nathan went hog hunting with some friends and they caught 3 hogs. We didn't do anything after lunch but hang around the house and it was nice. Yesterday Josey was 4 months old! Today she has her 4 month apt and she has to get shots. :( Hopefully they won't be too bad. Here are a couple of pics. One of me and Josey and one of her in her boots.

random things

This post is going to just have random small points that I want to say.
*Today is weigh day for our biggest loser deal here at school and I LOST 3.5 POUNDS! Very exciting.
*I think I am coming down with something because I really don't feel good. Last night we all went to sleep at 7:30. I didn't even cook dinner or eat anything but a couple of pieces of cheese.
*Josey is going through a growth spurt, I think, because she is waking up about ever 2 to 3 hours to eat in the night.
*Yesterday our babysitter was sick so Mom got to keep Josey. I know Mom enjoys her, but I think she wears her out, too.
*We need rain really bad. There won't be much grass this spring if it doesn't start raining soon.
I started tanning again Tuesday and I really like to tan. For some odd reason the light just makes me feel better. I know this sounds silly.
*My students all had to learn some large words that are colors for a vocab test and they have had so much fun saying them. Here are a few- cerulean, azure, incarnadine, alabaster, ebony, ecru, magenta, taupe, and aubergine.
*My seniors are having to research an author and one is doing Baxter Black. He is a cowboy poet and if you've never read anything by him, you're really missing out.
That is all I can think of right now. Hope y'all have a good day.

NO SURGERY!

We went to the doctor yesterday and Nathan does not have to have surgery on his leg! YAH! The doctor even said that he could walk on it. It is still in a cast and it looks pretty weird when he walks but it is sure better than being on crutches.

We gave Josey peas last night and she thinks they are gross. You can tell that in the pic. I am going to keep trying her on them, but I don't think she is going to be a big fan of them. I don't like peas except for cream ones, so I won't be surprised if she never likes them. I read somewhere that you need to try them on a new food at least seven times before they may like it. I'll keep trying the peas.

One month from today my kids take the TAKS test. Y'all pray for me. We are working hard on writing and it is a task to get some of them to do a good job.

bananas

Today we go to the orthopedist to see if Nathan's leg will require surgery. We've been praying it won't. He says it's feeling a lot better, so maybe it's healing quick. Josey ate bananas this weekend and she loves them, too. I really think that she likes all food right now. Today we are going to try peas. Hopefully she'll like veggies as much as fruit. If she's like her dad, she won't eat anything green and I really don't want that. We had a very busy weekend. Nathan's grandfather is in the hospital very ill. I'm sure we'll go see him today while we are over there at the doctor. We went to church with Nathan's grandma yesterday. Josey had never been to that church before and she must like the cowboy church we normally attend better. She cried so much that I had to take her out twice. Nathan gets so embarrassed when she cries, but I keep telling him that all babies do that all the time. Here's a pic of us going to church and one of Josey and I in our winter hats.
