Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth day 2009 from the Sikorski family! You can't tell in this picture, but I'm wearing an earth day t-shirt today. Check out Old Navy and Target to get earth friendly reusable shopping bags. I went to both places this past weekend. At Target they are giving out a reusable shopping bag to each shopper. At Old Navy if you buy a reusable shopping bag for $1, then you get 10% off of your entire purchase. I got one at each place and I plan to start using them. Check them out to get some for yourself.

Josey and the cows

Last week I took a few pictures when we were checking cows. Josey is so amused by the cows. She stares at them and tries to lean out the window to look closer at them.

I love this cow. Her horns are so cool looking.

This is one of Granny's cows. She is my favorite.

update

All is well with the Sikorski family. Josey is more entertaining every day. She is loving getting to sit in her high chair and eat her food now. Before, I would just lean her back on one of the couch pillows to feed her. Now she is big enough to sit in her high chair to eat. Her favorite activity right now is to sit in her high chair and throw her toys down so I have to pick them up. Here are a few new pictures of her.

Novels

Each English class that I teach is reading a different novel. Here they are.

Regular 9th grade-Call of the Wild 11th grade AP- 1984
9th grade Pre-AP- Across Five Aprils

10th grade- Journey Home

12th grade- Animal Farm
11th grade regular- A Separate Peace

Have any of y'all out there in blog land read these? Comment and let me know what you think. Some of these were not my first choice, or even 2nd or 3rd choice, but there are not very many books that we have enough copies of to have a classroom set.

6 months old!

As of April 8th, my baby girl is 6 months old! Time has flown by. I can't believe how fast she is growing. At her 6 month checkup, she weighed 18 pounds and 13 ounces. She is 27 and a half inches long. They said that she is in the 90th percentile in head size, height, and weight. She can sit up fairly well by herself now. Her favorite new thing to say is mamamamama. I love the fact that she can say mama before dada. See how red she is? Read below post to find out why.

ranch rodeo

On April 4th, we went to a ranch rodeo in Kurten. It is an annual event and we got to see lots of friends that we don't get to see very often. They draw teams, so you never know who you will ride with. Then they have a team roping. Nathan's team didn't do any good in the ranch rodeo. The team roping was a different story. Nathan won high point roper. Here is the buckle he won. I knew that Josey might sunburn, so after a little while she and I went to sit and watch from the truck. Apparently we did not go to the truck soon enough because when we got home Josey was VERY sunburned. See how red she is? Check my next post for another sunburn picture. It didn't seem to bother her one bit but I felt like the most horrible mother ever.

Wrist

Here is one post that is really all about me- that never happens! My wrist has been hurting for a long time so I finally decided to go to the doctor. Wednesday I had a late afternoon appointment and after waiting FOREVER, Dr. Riley finally saw me. I do not have corpal tunnel. I have tendinitis. He said that the tunnel that my ligament goes through is too small because the ligament is permenantly swollen. He gave me a cortisone shot in it. PAIN. Lots and lots of pain. Yesterday I did not even go to work because it was hurting so bad that I had not gotten any rest in the night. Still, it is hurting immensely today. Our school nurse took one look at it and is convinced that I am having an allergic reaction. The doctor hasn't called back yet, so we'll see what they say.
I said this was going to be all about me, but I cannot help but tell about the cutest thing Josey did. Yesterday, she was being very entertaining since I was home with her all day. She loves to sit up now, but can't always say up for very long. She was sitting up and then leaned forward and fell over (this was on the couch and I was right there, so this was safe), then wiggled around, stuck her legs out behind her so that she was on her stomach, and then rolled over. Then she looked at me like-- see how big I am? It was too funny.
